Cleveland Orthodontics in Middlesbrough

MeHaving worked at a fashion company for two years I realised it was time for a change as I was majorly in my comfort zone, I knew it was time to bite the bullet and move on.

I eventually found the perfect job for me at Cleveland Orthodontics as Marketing Manager.

First Day Nerve

I was extremely nervous about starting my first day at Cleveland Orthodontics, I couldn’t sleep the night before and the thought of having to make new friends again turned my tummy. After doing my hair, makeup and putting on my new outfit it was time to head off to work.

I reached the practice early and was greeted by one of the receptionists who made me feel welcome as she took my bags off me and gave me a big smile. After sitting with a couple of members of staff who began explaining background history of the practice, I felt the first hurdle was out of the way.

At first the experience is daunting and you feel like an outsider but after a couple of days working at the Practice I already felt part of the team as the girls proceeded to ask questions and get me involved with the conversations. I knew I was officially part of a team after one of the receptionists saw a picture of my pet dressed up in a skirt and said “she’s nutty, she’ll fit in here”.

Tips for new beginners

It is only week one so I have a lot to learn, however to anyone who is starting a new job or thinking about moving on I have advice on your behalf after going through the same experience.

  • Be Yourself – I understand for the first couple of weeks it may be best to put a restrain on your personality (if you are the joker, hyper and bubbly) however after you feel a bit more at home let your personality shine and people will connect to you no matter how daunting it is to sit in a room full of new people who are already friends, It is better to get involved.
  • Listen – Listen to people who are telling you background information regarding the workplace and your tasks at hand. I am a big believer in note taking, if I don’t understand what is being said or I am a bit nervous during the first few days I find looking back at my notes a big help.
  • Bite the bullet – Ask questions, make conversation, talk randomly and bring new ideas to the table.

Hope this helps guys, I will keep you updated about my journey here at Cleveland Orthodontics.
