How to make an appointment?
You can arrange your first appointment directly with Cleveland Orthodontics, but you must already be registered with a dentist before we can start any treatment. We are also happy to offer FREE CONSULTATIONS for adults orthodontic treatment.

Meeting our team
Your first visit is probably the most important one of your whole treatment! It gives us the opportunity to meet you and find out more about you and what you think about your teeth.
You will have the opportunity to meet our team and ask any questions you might have about orthodontic treatment. We ensure that we set aside plenty of time for your first visit so that we can discuss things in a relaxed and informal manner.
What to expect on your first visit?
When you arrive, we will ask you to complete a short questionnaire that will help us find out more about you and what sort of treatments you may be interested in. You will then be shown into the surgery by one of our orthodontic nurses to meet your orthodontist, who will have a look at your teeth, and possibly take an x-ray picture.
Our orthodontist can then be able to advise you what treatment you would need, and which types of braces would be suitable.
After checking your teeth and smile, we will show you into one of our comfortable Treatment Coordinator rooms so you can see the different types of braces in more detail. We can also answer any questions that you may have and discuss the costs of treatment and how quickly we can start.
Finally, a written report will be sent to you, summarising the proposed treatment and the costs involved.
What happens next?
If you decide that you want to proceed with the proposed treatment, we would arrange a second visit so that we can plan your treatment in more detail.
Alternatively, if you wish to consider your options that’s absolutely fine. You can contact us at a later date if you decide to go ahead.

Children & Teen Consultations
How to make an appointment?
All children under 18 years of age qualify for a free consultation on the NHS. Please ask your dentist to make a referral to Cleveland Orthodontics or contact us by telephone on 01642 243080 or email for further information.
Alternatively, parents can choose private orthodontic treatment for their children. To find out more about our private orthodontic service please contact the practice or click the link below.
What happens on your first visit?
Your first visit is nothing to worry about. We just want to meet you and look at your teeth. We won’t be giving you a brace straight away and we won’t be taking any teeth out!
First of all, we’ll count your teeth and maybe take an X-ray picture. We will then have a talk with you to try to find out what you think about the way your teeth look and how you feel about wearing a brace.
What happens next?
- If you are ready for a brace and are happy to wear one, we will advise you on your treatment options.
- If you qualify for NHS treatment, we will place you on the NHS Waiting List. We will be able to give you an idea of how long you will have to wait before your treatment can start.
- If you do not qualify for NHS treatment or request treatment on a private basis, we can discuss options with you.
- If you are too young to wear a brace, we may suggest that we see you again in a year or two.
- If you do not want to wear a brace, we will explain what might happen if your teeth are left the way they are. If you are happy with this, you do not have to come back again if you don’t want to.
