Nick joined the practice as an Associate in 2003 and became a Partner in 2005, before later going on to become the Practice Principal in 2011. He specialises in all aspects of contemporary orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers and adults, including ceramic appliances and Invisalign.
Nick is the NHS Contract Provider, CQC Lead, Clinical Governance Lead and is responsible for the overall delivery of service for NHS and private patients and strategy planning. He is the point of contact for NHS England in matters relating to our NHS contracts for Orthodontics.
Nick was an undergraduate at Newcastle University and followed this with a year’s vocational training in the Northeast. Two years of hospital posts in oral surgery and maxillofacial surgery followed with Nick attaining part 1 and 2 Fellowship of Dental Surgery qualifications.
He undertook his postgraduate training at Manchester University, gaining his MSc (with his research project on the impaction of canine teeth in cleft palate patients) and achieving his Diploma in Orthodontics.
Nick specialises in fixed appliances and Invisalign, as well as self-ligating brackets (Damon). He has a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (2015) to support his role as a clinical trainer within the practice.
Nick belongs to the British Orthodontic Society, the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
He provides courses for local dentists on how to refer orthodontic patients to our specialist practice.
Nick works with Damon Braces, Invisalign, Invisalign Teen and Invisalign i7.

Nick works closely alongside Judith Charlton, his specialist colleague and practice Partner, to ensure delivery of best practice for our patients and staff.
He coordinates regular team meetings, including Clinicians’ meetings for in-house clinical training and has been involved in the training of our three therapists, who were previously nurses at the practice.
Nick also supported our associate Jayne Sutherland to attain the Diploma in Primary Care Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Nick is a keen runner and has completed the London Marathon as well as half marathons. He loves music and plays both the guitar and piano.
