Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 QCF, Dental Radiography for Dental Professionals, Orthodontic Nursing, Orthodontic Therapist
First started dental nursing in 2005 in a orthodontic practice in Durham doing a mixed of both general dentistry and orthodontics for the first 2 years there and then solely working in orthodontics after that , I stayed there for 16 years in total when my employer retired and I decided to venture elsewhere to join the team at Cleveland orthodontics in 2021
I started In 2005 in an orthodontic practice who also had a general dentist working for them at the time , I worked in a mix of Ortho and general dentistry but soon became aware that my interests and passion were for orthodontics ! After gaining my dental nursing qualification in 2007 I then decided to do my orthodontic nursing course at Newcastle dental hospital to further improve my knowledge of orthodontics , once I gained this I went on to gain my impression taking and radiography qualifications , with these I was able to run my own nurse led clinics and become more hands on with the patients treatment and realised this is where my passion was , so when I was given the chance to further my skills and become an orthodontic therapist I jumped at the chance . I gained my orthodontic therapist qualification in 2011.
I love all aspects of my job but in particular I love the removing of the appliances as I love seeing what a difference we have made to the patients and their confidence ! Over the years I have also helped with the in house training of nurses in doing clinical photographs and been mentors for several nursing in helping them gain there impression taking qualifications which I have thoroughly enjoyed doing.
I have experience in using all different types of grades including metal/ ceramic/ Damon/ and Invisalign
